Custom Cabinetry Transforms a 1980s Siesta Key Condo into a Contemporary Coastal Retreat

Built in 1981, Windward Passage on Siesta Key may reflect the boxy architectural style of its time, but its location is second to none—perched along Big Pass, with sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico and the iconic Siesta coastline. While the exterior remains a familiar sight along the northern edge of the island, the interior of this Gulf-front residence has been completely reimagined by Murray Homes.

Award-winning custom home builder and remodeler Murray Homes undertook a full renovation of the residence, infusing it with contemporary design, luxurious finishes, and most notably, masterfully crafted custom cabinetry. Every detail of this remodel was designed to harmonize with the views outside while elevating the experience inside.

Quench Your Thirst for Great Design and Stunning Views at This Custom Entertaining Wall

This striking custom installation transforms the living area into a showcase for both form and function. Designed with entertaining in mind, the cabinetry integrates a dedicated glass display cabinet, dual beverage refrigerators, a sculptural wine rack, and ample lower storage. A solid surface countertop provides the perfect staging area for pouring drinks or setting out appetizers, all backed by a serene blue tile backsplash that echoes the Gulf waters just beyond the glass. Whether you’re hosting a sunset happy hour or enjoying a quiet evening, this bar wall is the perfect fusion of coastal style and everyday utility.

Custom Kitchen Remodel with Integrated Lighting and High-End Finishes

Our NARI CotY Award-winning design team worked closely with the homeowners to reimagine this kitchen from the ground up, transforming it into a sleek, functional space that feels at home in its coastal surroundings. The full renovation includes custom cabinetry, solid surface countertops, and integrated lighting that elevates both form and function.

A warm wood island with contrasting counters provides generous prep and serving space, while soft matte perimeter cabinets offer smart storage with a seamless, built-in look. Carefully selected materials—paired with subtle under-cabinet and toe-kick lighting—add a polished, modern finish that’s as durable as it is beautiful. The result is a kitchen that not only fits the homeowners’ lifestyle but reflects the trusted quality and craftsmanship that defines every Murray Homes project.

Bathrooms Updated with Beautifully Designed and Crafted Cabinetry and Tile-work

From the outset, our team approached the bathroom renovations with the same high standards we bring to every Murray Homes project—combining award-winning design with tailored craftsmanship to create spaces that are as functional as they are refined. Working hand-in-hand with the homeowners, we developed two distinct bathroom concepts that showcase custom vanities, designer tile, and smart lighting solutions.

One bathroom features a bold herringbone tile wall in ocean-inspired hues paired with a floating wood vanity, illuminated mirrors, and under-cabinet lighting—offering spa-like serenity with a modern edge. The second bath takes a more playful approach, with patterned tile, custom glass shower enclosure, and crisp white cabinetry that brightens the space while maximizing storage. Both rooms are a testament to the way thoughtful design and high-quality materials can completely redefine everyday living.

The Custom Built-In Entertainment Center Blends Style and Enhanced Function

Beyond the major living spaces, custom cabinetry continues to make an impact throughout the condo. A floating entertainment console with integrated lighting turns the media wall into a sculptural centerpiece. At the home’s entrance, a low-profile console adds form and function to an otherwise simple hallway, with fluted wood detailing and under-lighting that hints at the high-level design waiting inside.

Elegant Built-In Cabinetry Brings Function and Style to the Entryway

The entryway of this remodeled condo sets the tone for the entire home — welcoming, functional, and elegantly composed. As residents step inside, they’re greeted not only by sweeping Gulf of Mexico views but also by a beautifully crafted floating cabinet designed to enhance daily living.

This custom-built piece adds a touch of refined convenience, offering discreet storage for keys, mail, and essentials while maintaining a clean, modern profile. Integrated lighting beneath the cabinet adds a warm glow and softens the transition from exterior to interior, hinting at the thoughtful design and craftsmanship found throughout the rest of the home. It’s a quiet detail — but one that speaks volumes about the Murray Homes approach to custom living.
